Description

Highlights
  • Medium tack and excellent adhesion and grab strength to most paper stocks
  • Bonds a wide variety of similar and dissimilar substrates such as metals, glass, wood, paints and high surface energy plastics
  • 3M™ Adhesive 400 bonds on contact

3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 463 features an acrylic adhesive that bonds well to most paper stocks and other high surface energy substrates. It is ideal for high-speed flying splices and zero speed splices on most grades of paper, though it also bonds a variety of other similar and dissimilar materials.

All-Around Performance in a Variety of Applications
3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 463 helps keep production processes moving in rapid fashion. This tape is known for its immediate grab to paper stocks, and so attaching paper (and plastic films) has never been easier. This 2 mil, high-tack adhesive tape features an aggressive bond that adheres on contact. It has good UV, humidity and moisture resistance. With a moderately strong bond on high surface energy substrates it is a great choice for bonding similar and dissimilar substrates such as metals, glass, wood, papers, paints and many plastics. This tape is supplied on a 3.5 mil, 60 lb. densified, easy-to-release kraft paper liner for ease of application, providing reliable performance for industrial applications such as die-cutting and automated dispensers.

Recommended Applications

  • High-speed flying splices and zero speed splices on most grades of paper
  • Ideal tape for use on automated tape heads
  • UV resistant adhesive ideal for printing, point-of-purchase and packaging
  • Excellent low temperature performance

Aggressive 3M™ Adhesive 400 Bonds on Contact
3M™ Adhesive 400 is a medium-firm pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive that offers good initial adhesion (quick stick) and good shear holding power. The formulation gives 3M™ Adhesive 400 a consistently strong bond up to temperatures as high as 250°F/121°C.

Understanding Adhesive Transfer Tapes
Adhesive transfer tapes are rolls of pressure sensitive adhesive pre-applied to a special release liner. For application, the tape is simply pressed, adhesive side down, to a surface and the liner is peeled off. A variety of adhesive properties and liners are available to meet requirements for applications such as nameplate attachment to high and low surface energy plastics, appliance graphic overlays that perform in high temperatures, foam gasketing, web splicing, signs, posters, banners, point-of-purchase displays and more.
